How many days?

The trek to Petra is best started from the Dana Nature Reserve, because the Dana Reserve is such a varying reserve not just in terms of geology, flora and fauna. However, in terms of locations and types of accommodation, the hike can be started from any one of the following locations (all three of which are located inside the Dana Reserve):
-    Rummana Campsite
-    Dana Guesthouse/Dana village
-    Feynan EcoLodge
With the longest version of the hike starting from Rummana Campsite, making the first day of the trek the longest (hiking from the Rummana Campsite to Dana village and then down to the Feynan Lodge. If you book early enough you can stay at the Dana Guesthouse (in Dana village) which has 8 rooms with shared facilities and only 1 with an en-suite. Staying at the Dana Guesthouse will make the first day of the hike shorter and more pleasant as you walk down from the Dana village to the Feynan Lodge through Wadi Dana. If you want to avoid walking the steep downhill from Dana village to Feynan Lodge (850 meters – 2800 feet – decent in 5 hours), it can be arranged to drive to the Feynan Lodge, spend the night and then start our hike from the Lodge.
